Sources have confirmed that the official announcement of LG Nexus 4, which was previously known as LG Optimus G Nexus, will arrive on October 29. This piece of information was revealed by LG’s Head of Mobile Product Planning in India, Amit Gujral who, while talking to IBNLive, said that this launch would officially take place during a Google event on October 29. This seems quite credible since Google has already announced an Android event last week.
During his talk with IBNLive, Gujral also confirmed some of the technical specs of the device. For instance, it would be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and would have a 4.7-inch display. The operating system for the phone is not confirmed yet but it is expected that it would come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The phone would be available in two models of 8 GB and 16 GB internal storage capacity. There would be an 8 mega pixel back end camera on board, in addition to a 1.3 megapixel front end camera. Finally, the phone would be equipped with a powerful 2,100mAh battery.
The physical structure of the Nexus 4 device, as per the rumors, is quite similar to Samsung Galaxy S III. However, if the technical specs as proposed above turn out to be accurate, the closest resemblance for Nexus 4 would come with LG Optimus G.
So far it is not confirmed whether Gujral made that statement officially on behalf of the company or it was more of a personal speculation. Already so many rumors and leaks from LG and other companies are making their way to the internet these days. It was also mentioned by Gujral that Nexus 4 would be available for the Indian market by the end of November. He, however, did not give any dates for the launch of the device in the US market.
Later, however, LG specifically said that “Gujral’s statements are not the position of the company,” and that the matter is being further investigated. Later on, it was told that Gujral was misquoted and it was not the statements that appeared in the media that were made by Gujral. But regardless of the actual case, let’s just jeep our fingers crossed for the October 29 event.
